The Department of Physics at the University of Reading is a centre for excellence for the teaching of physics, research in nanoscience & materials, atoms, molecules & lasers and environmental physics. The Senior Management Board of the University of Reading have proposed that the Department is closed. This proposal is wrong for the University and it is wrong for the UK. This blog has been established by friends of the Department of Physics to collate the widespread opposition to this proposal
